Day 2-Long drive ahead

7:30 up

8:00 on road. 46 degrees. Overcast

8:05 starbucks and first palm tree

 

11:12 Starbucks again and snack.

 

11:18 gas $3.50/ gal I guess they didn't get the memo on gas prices going down. Cool looking little town

 

Noon. Orange trees.

 

12:20 the big house in Wasco

 

1:00 The map program wants us to turn around and take I-5 through LA. At rush hour. Lol

2:00 Mojave desert Where Chuck Yeager was credited with being the first man to break the sound barrier in level flight on October 14, 1947, flying at an altitude of 45,000 ft .

2:15 rest stop. 64 degrees.

Rocky is such a good rider. (He took this selfie)

4:00 hwy I-10 the rest of the way. Nav system says 4 1/2 hours.

4:15 Beaumont the cell towers look like trees. Look close.

5:00 rest stop. Beautiful sunset. 70 degrees. Just outside of Palm Springs.

6:35 in az. Temp 64 degrees

8:30. 7:30 pacific time. Gas and beer stop. Gas $2.29/gal. Much better price than last place.

10:00 arrived at motel. About a hour and a half later than planned. Two accidents on the freeway. When we were putting our bags in the room a van pulled up with several people in it. They are here for the races too, however they came a lot further. France. The kid didn't speak English but had a SEVEN sweatshirt on. Finished all our snacks and watched tv.

12:30am good night

Sunshine bound

Saturday night while we were watching Anaheim 1 Supercross,Gordy said "what do you want to do Thursday when I start time off? " Let's go to Phoenix to the next race, I suggested. He said "Really? Ok!"

Here's our trip.

Road trip.

8:00 30 degrees truck has ice on it.

9:50 left house, odometer reading 379

10:18 starbucks. Both of us got coffees. Gordy is my barista, he makes them just right.

Headed down hwy 101 to hwy 26

Gas seaside $2.49 gal

10:30 45 degrees and blue sky's.

10:53 Hwy 26 fog here and there.

11:30 3 cops giving tickets so far.

11:45 I-5 south for ???lots of miles.

Noon. Rest stop

1:00 booked hotel for tonight in Elk Grove, CA

1:30 snack time. Cheese, salami and carrot sticks

1:49 another ticket getter.

3:00 rest stop at seven feathers. Between Roseburg and Grants Pass. Very nice. Gordy and Rocky took a walk.

4:45 California border.

I didn't take this picture. We did get stoped at the boarder check. "Do you have any fruit or plants?" Have they heard of the constitutional right to move freely from state without being detained? Look it up. It's in our constitution, section 2. Just a little history lesson.

5:45 stop in Weed for dinnerish. Taco Bell. And gas $2.87/gal.

9:30. odometer reading 1035. 656 miles for the day. Arrived at hotel in Elk Grove. Ate some snacks and had some beer, watched "failure to launch". Very funny

11:50 good night.
